We are committed to providing safe, reliable and efficient transportation for our students. Below, you’ll find essential information regarding school bus services, bus rules, temporary change procedures, and inclement weather policies.
Riding the School Bus
Riding the school bus is a privilege extended to students demonstrating respectful and responsible behavior. Chichiltah Jones Ranch Community School offers daily bus services for day students, with buses stopping only at designated locations. To ensure the safety and comfort of all riders, students must adhere to the outlined bus rules and procedures.
Violations of bus rules may result in restrictions or suspension of bus privileges.
Bus Rules
To maintain bus riding privileges, students must observe the following rules:
- Be on time for the bus.
- Show respect for others and the driver.
- Remain seated while the bus is in motion.
- Keep the aisle and exits clear for safety.
- Be courteous and refrain from using foul language or obscene gestures.
- Always keep all body parts inside the bus.
- The use of tobacco, alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
- No food or drinks are allowed on the bus.
- Do not damage the bus. Students and their families are responsible for repairs if damage occurs.
- Do not distract the driver while the bus is in motion.
- Always listen to and follow the driver’s instructions.
Bus Change Requests
A temporary bus pass is required if a student needs to ride a bus other than their assigned one. To request a temporary pass:
- Parents/guardians must provide written notice or call the school office by 11:00 a.m. on the same day.
Transportation Cancellation Due to Inclement Weather
Chichiltah Jones Ranch Community School has policies in place to address transportation disruptions caused by inclement weather or unsafe driving conditions: The principal, head teacher or home living specialist supervisor will notify local radio and television stations if transportation is canceled.
- Public service announcements will inform students and parents of cancellations and any updates regarding rescheduled services.
- Students unable to return to school due to weather-related transportation issues will not be marked absent.
- If transportation is canceled on a Friday, students will be bused home on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m., weather permitting.
